PERPETUAL NUMBER ONE HERO

BOBBY VOGEL IS AUBURN’S NUMBER ONE HERO AND SPORTS FAN

Every year this festival director looks forward to the day that Bobby stops by to get his honorary festival shirt. This year’s shirt is special because it displays the flag of the United States of America, sunshine and the words “HEROES in Our Midst”. Bobby epitomizes the definition of all three and that is why we chose him to be Auburn’s Number One Hero.

Bobby works hard, lives in Auburn and we applaud his continued perseverance at life and the challenges he encounters along the way. Bobby never meets a stranger nor does he ever have a harsh word for anyone. He always makes you feel better. You can see him eating at Trotter’s Restaurant, working hard at Safeway, worshiping at Grace Community Church and walking to and from his downtown home.

Bobby is the Honorary Manager of the Auburn High School boy’s basketball team. Bobby works for the Athletic Department with Bob Jones and his job description is “Number One Fan”.  Bobby always knows what going on in Auburn sports, rarely misses any games and is usually seen in the letterman’s jacket that the team provides for him.

To say that our hero was ecstatic when told of this “one and only” award, would be an understatement. He had many questions and miles of smiles but the last question was, “What do I get to ride in for the parade?”  This is a big deal to a guy that walks everywhere and we are happy to give him the ride of his life! “Thanks!” to you, Bobby, for your lessons in being an everyday hero. You really are “Number One”!
